Version 4.2 von Typo3 bringt vor allem Vernbesserungen im Backend und reichlich Bugfixes. Aber auch eine andere Änderungen (z.B. neue Login-Extension im Core [Systemextension]).
Voraussetzung ist jetzt PHP 5 (aktuell ist 5.2.5)! PHP 4 wird vom PHP-Team nicht mehr weiterentwickelt. Der Umstieg fiel nicht leicht, war aber letztendlich nötig.
